The Report - Bio
The Report
Indie Rock from the heartlands of Kingston-upon-Thames
The Report’s sound pulls from the rich tapestry of ‘60s/’70s rock, ‘90s indie, and contemporary artists like Father John Misty, The Staves and Half Moon Run.
Formed in 2019 around the songwriting partnership of Hugo Allen (vocals/guitar) and Jo Rogers (keys/vocals), the band’s lineup is completed by Gary O’Key (bass), Jules Harley (drums) and Mark Williamson (guitar). Together they create a signature mix of emotionally honest lyricism, layered harmonies and intricate guitar‑piano arrangements described as “deeply personal and universally relatable.”
The new EP marks a creative leap forward for the band, continuing their long‑running collaboration with producer/engineer Chris Pepper of Saltwell Studio. The title is a playful nod both to life’s countless choices ahead and the crowded landscape of streaming‑era “acts” all vying to be heard. It’s The Report’s wry take on standing out with authenticity in a saturated world.
Since their 2019 debut EP House By The Sea, The Report have released a steady stream of EPs and singles, each one expanding their sonic palette. A Thousand Acts To Follow captures a band confident in their craft, embracing new textures while staying true to the heartfelt songwriting that defines them.
